Caldarus is bonded to you when you repair his broken statue early in the story. He appears in your dreams before Spring 3 asking for Essence, and repays you with skill upgrades as you descend the mines. Centuries of being sealed away left him with amnesia — and no idea how humans work.
First impression: formal and distant — he calls you "mortal". Old soul, lonely heart.
How to Unlock His Human Form
Caldarus can't be romanced as a statue (or a dragon). Three things stand between you and his human form:
- Reach floor 60 of the mines — the mines guide covers the fastest way down.
- Break the Fire Seal (story quest "Breaking the Fire Seal").
- Complete the ritual at his shrine.
How His Friendship Actually Works
Caldarus has no traditional heart events. His hearts unlock through the main mines questline instead:
