How to Unlock the Greenhouse
Four steps stand between you and a greenhouse. Here's the exact checklist, plus the Small vs Large comparison so you buy the right blueprint the first time.
🌱 Quick Answer
Finish the earlier town repair quests → reach Renown Level 70 → complete the "Upgrade the Carpenter's Shop" questline → buy a Small or Large blueprint and supply the materials.
The Unlock Checklist
- Finish the earlier town repair quests. The chain leading up to the carpenter, including the Saturday Market upgrade, has to be done first.
- Reach Renown Level 70. The Carpenter's Shop questline doesn't appear before this.
- Complete "Upgrade the Carpenter's Shop". Finish the full town repair questline for the shop itself.
- Buy a blueprint and build it on your farm. Choose Small or Large, pay the price, and supply the construction materials below.
Small vs Large: Which Blueprint?
| Blueprint | Interior Space | Price | Materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 5×5 | 50,000t | 20 Refined Stone · 20 Glass · 20 Hard Wood |
| Large | 10×10 | 100,000t | 40 Refined Stone · 40 Glass · 40 Hard Wood |
Both the White and Wood visual styles cost the same and use the same materials — the choice is purely cosmetic. The Large greenhouse quadruples the interior (10×10 vs 5×5) for double the price and double the materials, so if your savings allow it, the Large is the better per-tile deal.
What the Greenhouse Actually Does
Year-round growing. Seasonal crops and fruit trees can keep producing inside the greenhouse regardless of the calendar — that's the whole prize. One planning note: fruit trees use a 3×3 footprint, so in a Small greenhouse a single tree eats over a third of your 5×5 floor. If trees are the plan, that's a strong argument for the Large.
It's movable — carefully. Like barns and coops, the greenhouse can be removed and re-placed later: removing it returns the blueprint and construction materials, but any crops growing inside are destroyed. Harvest first, then move.
⚠️ What We Deliberately Leave Out
Some guides list exact quest turn-in quantities for the carpenter questline. The official update notes don't specify them and we haven't independently verified them in-game yet, so this page sticks to the confirmed unlock conditions and building specs.
Facts on this page were checked against NPC Studio's Third Major Update patch notes and the community wiki's Greenhouse and Carpenter entries (verified August 11, 2026, current for the 1.0 game).
Planning Around It
The greenhouse is a placeable farm building — barns, coops, and greenhouses can all be moved later once you have the blueprint. Thinking about where it fits? The farm layout gallery covers zoning, and the crop profit guide helps you decide what deserves the protected space. Saving up the 50–100k? The house upgrade guide competes for the same wallet.
