Fields of Mistria Characters

Who Lives in Mistria?

Fields of Mistria is home to more than 30 villagers, each with their own schedule, preferences, and story. The roster includes romanceable characters, everyday townsfolk, Saturday market vendors, and a few special story characters. The full cast reflects the v1.0.0 release of August 2026.

All characters can be befriended by talking to them daily and giving gifts. Reaching higher friendship levels unlocks heart events, quests, and (for romance candidates) the option to date and eventually marry.

The 12 Marriage Candidates

Six bachelorettes and six bachelors can be romanced. Each becomes available to date after you progress their friendship to level 8, where you can choose between the Best Friends route and the Dating route. Dedicated guides are available for March, Hayden, Balor, Eiland, Juniper, and the hidden dragons Caldarus and Seridia.

Note: Seridia and Caldarus are hidden romance candidates with mystery portraits early in the game. Caldarus also appears as a statue before his story is unlocked, and both only send birthday letters once you reach friendship level 6 and complete specific story quests.

The everyday residents of Mistria are just as important. This group includes Dell, Dozy, Elsie, Errol, Hemlock, Holt, Henrietta, Josephine, Landen, Luc, Maple, Nora, Olric, and Terithia.

Several townsfolk have important gameplay roles. Olric (March's brother) works odd jobs around town and sends you on a quest to return a lost miner's pickaxe to Errol. Luc is a budding entomologist who posts insect-related requests. Errol runs the museum, Hemlock and Josephine run the Sleeping Dragon Inn, Nora and Holt run the General Store, and Terithia sells fishing rods from her tackle shop on the beach. Kids like Dell, Luc, and Maple, and animals like Dozy (Juniper's dog) and Henrietta (Hayden's chicken), cannot receive alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, or bomb gifts, so keep those away when gifting.

The Olric Phenomenon

If you spend any time in the Fields of Mistria community, you'll meet Olric before you even open the game, and you'll quickly learn he's the town's most-wanted unromanceable villager. Here's the full story:

• Who he is: March's younger brother, a friendly, hard-working handyman who helps around Mistria and gives you the pickaxe-return quest.
• Why he's famous: Despite being a "Townsfolk (Not Romanceable)" NPC, players consistently rank him among the most attractive characters in the game. Steam forum threads petitioning for Olric to become a marriage candidate are filled with "+1" replies, and Destructoid even wrote a story about the community's demand.
• Fan art goldmine: Olric fan art is one of the most common post types on r/FieldsOfMistriaGame, portraits, date scenarios, even "what if he were a candidate" edits.
• The joke: "Why can't I romance Olric?" has become a running community punchline, right up there with wanting more mature romance options in general.

Candidate Profiles: Who They Really Are

Every romanceable character has their own story, personality, gift tastes and heart-event arc. Here is the full breakdown so you know who to pursue, and what to gift them.

Celine Birthday Summer 14

Gardener & part-timer at the General Store

Background. Celine is the daughter of Holt and Nora, who run the General Store, and the older sister of Dell. She recently moved into her own cottage just north of your farm, where she keeps her own garden. She is one of the first villagers to greet you and hands you your very first tool, the worn hoe, plus some starter seeds.

Personality. Sweet, caring and friendly, with a deep affinity for all things flora. You will often find her working in her garden, reading the plant encyclopedia Codex Mistria, or helping out at the family store. She is the character on the game's cover art.

• 2 hearts. The Unusual Seed: she shows you a seed from her childhood memories and you dig it up together.
• 4 hearts. Water and Soil: the seed sprouts; she starts sending you Rose Tea on your birthday.
• 6 hearts. A Change of Green-ery: the sprout stalls, and Dell treats you both to cherry cobbler while you cheer her up.
• 8 hearts. A Lost Flower: a hilltop picnic where she confesses how much you mean to her; the flower finally blooms.

Juniper Birthday Fall 26

Sorceress & owner of the Bathhouse (with her familiar Dozy)

Background. A mysterious witch drawn to Mistria by the strange magical mist and monsters that appeared after the earthquake. She runs the bathhouse, which is largely a front for testing potions and magic on unsuspecting villagers (including you).

Personality. Mysterious and theatrical, with a signature cackle, “OH HO HO HO!”, and a habit of treating you like a test subject. Surprisingly, she is afraid of ghosts. Under the showmanship she is secretly researching you, and her story hides real depth.

• 6 hearts. Working Like a Dog: a body-swap mishap that ends with Elsie gently telling her to value people who stay by her side.
• 8 hearts. Potions and Errands: in the bathhouse she admits she was never studying potions: she was studying you.

Reina Birthday Fall 12

Head cook at the Sleeping Dragon Inn

Background. Daughter of Hemlock and Josephine, older sister of Luc and Maple. She works in the inn's kitchen and can be found experimenting with new recipes. She loves reading by the fire on rainy days.

Personality. Hard-working, friendly and a true romantic. Cooking is her passion and she is always testing new dishes, most of which end up as her Loved gifts.

• 6 hearts. Farm Fresh Sous Chef: she asks you to be her sous chef for the finals against the picky judge Taliferro.
• 8 hearts. The Aldarian Cooking Contest: you serve a three-course Mistria feast and win the Aldarian Star; romance is confessed.

Valen Birthday Fall 1

Town doctor, running the family clinic

Background. Valen comes from a long line of doctors, the clinic has been owned by her family for generations. She is down-to-earth and insists you call her Valen, not “Doctor.” If you pass out in the mines, she revives you (and then tells you off).

Personality. Friendly and informal, with a secret: her family has spent generations trying to recreate a lost panacea. She sells helpful syrups at her clinic.

• 2 hearts. The Annual Check-Up: she gives you a free check-up and cures Hayden's ankle with a pinch of her family's legendary panacea.
• 4 hearts. Batch 312: she shows you the family's lost-recipe lab; you volunteer as a test subject and she saves you; sends Green Tea on birthdays.
• 6 hearts. An Outside Consultant: at the bathhouse, Juniper spots the missing ingredient in Valen's notes: Cliffblossom.
• 8 hearts. The Panacea: you find Cliffblossom in the Western Ruins together, you are hurt protecting her, and she heals you with the finished panacea.

Adeline Birthday Winter 18

Acting leader of Mistria (royal family)

Background. Adeline is the daughter of Baroness Linnet and Baron Wiscar of Mistria, and the sister of Eiland. After the earthquake, her parents were called to the capital, leaving her in charge of restoring the town. Her request for a capable adventurer is what brings you to Mistria.

Personality. Completely devoted to restoring and revitalizing Mistria, she finds even filling out tax documents fun. Methodical and driven, she manages the town with binders, charts and presentations, sometimes over-preparing out of sheer dedication.

Loved gifts. Coffee, Tea with Lemon, Gazpacho, Lemon Pie, Middlemist, Mistril Ingot, Peaches and Cream, Perfect Pink Diamond, Plum Blossom, Pumpkin Pie

• 4 hearts. A Rewarding Choice: she asks you to pick between town supplies and a cookie care package for the earthquake relief fund; sends Lemon Pie on birthdays.
• 6 hearts. Chief Inspector: she takes you on a town-wide inspection, and Landen reminds her to take care of herself too.
• 8 hearts. Lost Track of Time: she faints from overwork while you share tea and Lemon Pie; she confesses her feelings and gifts you the family heirloom Hero's Ring.

Seridia Birthday Winter 2

Dragon Priestess (hidden candidate, real form: Witch Queen & dragon)

Background. Seridia is a hidden romance candidate. She first appears as a ghostly figure on floor 20 of the mines during the “Breaking The Water Seal” quest. She is the ancient Witch Queen and a dragon, sealed beneath the world by Caldarus and the Dragonsworn. As you break the seals and free her, she moves to the Western Ruins and makes it her home.

Personality. Power-hungry in her past, now sharp-tongued and regal, with a dry wit (“Right as things were getting interesting!”). She is grateful to you and swears she will never harm you. Her romance path is deep and tied to the main story.

Balor Birthday Summer 10

Traveling merchant (Balor's Wagon)

Background. A rogue-turned-merchant with secrets. He stays at the Sleeping Dragon Inn and runs his wagon, always with a smile and a deal ready. His low prices are a deliberate strategy to help stabilize Mistria, and he plans to leave once the town recovers.

Personality. Charming, quick with a deal, and secretly loyal to Mistria. One of the first two romance candidates ever revealed (with Celine).

• 6 hearts. Lemonade from Lemons: a merchant guild tries to buy his Mistria contracts; he refuses to sell out.
• 8 hearts. For Good: he tears up the merchant's contract and declares 'Mistria is my home'; romance or friendship is confirmed.

March Birthday Spring 16

Blacksmith (with brother Olric)

Background. An award-winning blacksmith with a chip on his shoulder, March inherited the family forge after his parents Jade and Olin passed away when he was young. He lives with his younger brother Olric above the blacksmith shop.

Personality. Curt and grumpy at first, partly because he is jealous that you stole the town's attention. Underneath, his heart is not impenetrable, and his story is one of grief and opening up. (Fun fact: his red hair is dyed.)

• 6 hearts. Shield of the Realm: you forge a ceremonial shield for the Baroness together, with a hand-holding moment during detailing.
• 8 hearts. The Mines Rescue: he goes alone to the mines for gold ore, falls through a cave floor, and you find him injured; he opens up about his parents' deaths, and you choose Best Friends or Dating.

Hayden Birthday Winter 8

Owner of Sweetwater Farm (your west neighbor)

Background. Hayden runs Sweetwater Farm to the west of yours and sells you animals from his house. At the start of the game he gives you a watering can and three turnip seeds. His prize chicken is Henrietta, and he has a cow named Sunshine.

Personality. Bold and friendly, with a huge love for animals, especially his chicken Henrietta. He likes fish too much to ever eat them, and after a hard day's work he enjoys a big meal and a card game at the inn.

• 8 hearts. A Little While Longer: dinner and a beach walk where he confesses he doesn't want to be alone anymore; romance or friendship choice.

Ryis Birthday Spring 4

Carpenter (Carpenter's Shop on Eastern Road)

Background. Ryis is the town carpenter, with family from the capital (his sisters still live there). His uncle Landen is also a carpenter. He lives in Mistria and runs the shop where you buy house upgrades.

Personality. Thoughtful and calm, and a keen bird-watcher, he loves spending time on life's small pleasures.

Eiland Birthday Summer 20

Archaeologist & aristocrat (Historical Society)

Background. Eiland is an archaeologist and nobleman, son of Baroness Linnet and Baron Wiscar, and Adeline's brother. He runs the Historical Society (with Errol, Terithia and Olric) and gives you the worn axe on day two. He believes reconnecting with Mistria's past is the key to its future.

Personality. Passionate about archaeology and history, and runs a weekly 'Dragons & Drama' tabletop session at the inn. He is not good at fishing, by his own admission.

• 6 hearts. The Manor: a search for the Dragonsworn Cloak that reveals his childhood 'international incident' over a Caldosian signet ring.
• 8 hearts. The Clearing: a Deep Woods walk where you find the last armor pieces; the most romantic of his events, with a romance or friendship choice.

Caldarus Birthday Spring 25

Dragon guardian of Mistria (hidden marriage candidate, unlock his human form to romance him)

Background. Caldarus is a dragon and the guardian of Mistria, sealed away and bonded to you when you repair his broken statue. He appears in your dreams before Spring 3, asking for Essence, and repays you with skill upgrades as you descend the mines. Recently awakened after being sealed for so long, he has amnesia. Unlock his human form by reaching floor 60 of the mines, breaking the Fire Seal, and completing the ritual at his shrine.

Personality. Formal and distant at first, he calls you “mortal”, but he has an old soul and a lonely heart. He is learning human customs from scratch after centuries sealed away (his 8-heart cooking attempts are famously… creative).

• 6 hearts. Unlocked by completing the story quest “Breaking the Fire Seal.” He sends you a Marigold on your birthday every year.
• 8 hearts. “Life in This Form”: he invites you to his temple in the Deep Woods, serves onion soup (he forgot to dice the onions) and mushroom rice (far too much soy sauce), then confesses that the loneliness he feels is replaced by warmth when you visit. You choose Best Friends or the romantic route.
• 10 hearts. Marriage is live since 1.0: at 10 hearts while dating, Elsie brings you the Engagement Ring recipe, and Caldarus can be proposed to like any other candidate.

Saturday Market Vendors

Each Saturday, traveling vendors set up stalls in Mistria, including Stillwell (with his own mission-board quests) and Zorel, who sells Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals that let you customize the music on your farm. Stock rotates weekly, so check back each Saturday — the Saturday Market guide covers unlocks, upgrades and every stall.
