Fields of Mistria Quest List & Town Rank Guide
The full story-quest order — intro, mines and town repairs — plus every Town Rank threshold, what Renown actually gates, and how to rank up faster.
📜 Quick Answer
Quests come from the Request Board (between the General Store and the Mill) and from letters. They never expire, you can run several at once, and everything pays Renown — the points that raise your Town Rank and unlock the next story quest. Stuck? It's almost always a Town Rank gate; the thresholds are below.
Intro Quests: Your First Season
| Quest | Arrives | What It Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Greet the Townsfolk | Spring 1 | Talk to all 22 townsfolk; 3 Potato Seeds + 100t |
| Museum Donations Wanted | Spring 2 (letter) | The Museum |
| Do a Bro a Favor | Spring 2 | Worn Pickaxe (from Olric) |
| Something's Bugging Me | Spring 4 | Worn Net for bug catching (from Luc) |
| Friday at the Sleeping Dragon Inn | Spring 5 (letter) | The weekly Friday night gathering |
| Seeking Gossip | Summer 1 | Elsie's gossip system — gift hints for villagers |
Every quest above pays 20 Renown. Two more early ones worth grabbing: "Stinky Stamina Potion" (Spring 5 — bring Juniper a Lilac for a full recovery, 5 free Bathhouse visits and the Weather Crystal Ball) and "Jo's Cooking Class" (Spring 13 — your first cooking recipe).
The Mines Chain: Main Story in Order
This is the game's spine — 13 quests from reopening the mines to freeing the game's last secret. Each seal consumes specific items, so collect spares before you donate anything to the museum:
| # | Quest | Trigger | Needs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The State of the Mines | Spring 6 (letter from Eiland) | Meet Eiland at the museum |
| 2 | Unlocking the Mines | Town Rank 10 + quest 1 | Opens the mines |
| 3 | Cop Some Ore | Mines open (letter from March) | 3 Copper Ore — unlocks Blacksmithing |
| 4 | The Water Tablet | Reach floor 20 | Stone Loach + Upper Mines Mushroom + Ruby Lantern Moth |
| 5 | The Earth Tablet | Reach floor 40 | Coral Mantis + Sapphire Archerfish + Jade Dulse |
| 6 | The Fire Tablet | Reach floor 60 | Talk to Juniper |
| 7 | Procuring the Sealing Scroll | After quest 6 | 10 Ruby, 10 Sapphire, 10 Emerald, 10 Silver Ingot |
| 8 | Breaking the Fire Seal | After quest 7 | Faceted Rock Gem + Rockroot + Emerald + Sealing Scroll — opens Lava Caves and the Deep Woods |
| 9 | Creating the Void Mass | Reach floor 80 | 5 each: Void Stone, Void Powder, Void Herb, Void Pearl |
| 10 | Breaking the Ruins Seal | After quest 9 | Breath of Flame + Smoke Moth + Firesail Fish + Obsidian — grants Void Sight |
| 11 | Find the Magic Key | Reach floor 90 | Solve the Priestess Quarters — grants Sacred Light |
| 12 | The Dragonsworn Tablet | Reach floor 100 | 8 hearts with both Juniper and Eiland (view both 8-heart events) |
| 13 | Breaking the Final Seal | After quest 12 | Dragon-Forged Fang, Horn, Core and Powder — frees Seridia |
Yes, the finale checks your friendships: quest 12 won't advance until Juniper and Eiland are both at 8 hearts. Gift lists for both are in the Gift Finder. Floor-by-floor mine tactics live in the mines guide.
Town Repairs: All 17, With Materials

| Repair the Bell Tower | TR 90 | 20 Refined Stone, 30 Hardwood, 1 Dragon-Forged Fang, 1 Dragon-Forged Core | Bell Tower access |
Note the Bell Tower's Dragon-Forged parts: they come from the Dragon Forge on mine floor 90+, so the last town repair assumes late main-story progress — plan both chains together.
Town Rank: Every Threshold
Renown comes from completing quests, donating to the museum, and shipping items. Reaching Rank 100 takes 18,006 cumulative Renown, and each level drops a reward in the chest by the Request Board — Stamina Ups land at every rank milestone from 10 through 70.
| Rank | Level | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Wood | 0 | Starting rank |
| Stone | 10 | The Mines |
| Copper | 20 | Story quest "Lost and Found" |
| Ruby | 30 | Story quest "Apiaries and Terrariums" (bee & bug stations) |
| Iron | 40 | — |
| Sapphire | 50 | Crown Requests (weekly, 75 Renown each) · 55: Stone Refinery |
| Silver | 60 | 65: Saturday Market upgrade |
| Emerald | 70 | Carpenter's Shop upgrade (greenhouse!) |
| Gold | 80 | Saturday Market expansion |
| Diamond | 90 | Bell Tower repair |
| Mistril | 100 | Final rank — reward chest only, no quest behind it |
Each rank you reach also pops an achievement, Stone Star through Mistril Star — all ten are on the achievements page.
About That End-Game Time-Gating
The late quest gates (TR 55 → 65 → 70 → 80 → 90) are the part of the game players call time-gated, and the math explains why: rank 90 needs about 14,600 cumulative Renown. If you're short, the fastest honest ways to close the gap:
- Clear the Request Board daily — 20 Renown per request, and they restock constantly until their pool runs dry.
- Do the weekly boards: Crown Requests (75), Taliferro's cooking challenges (100 each — recipe sources here) and Stillwell's slaying missions (100 each — list on the market page).
- Donate to the museum — every one of the 409 items pays Renown on top of its set rewards.
- Ship steadily — shipping items also ticks Renown up, so your daily crop income is quietly ranking you up too.
Festival, Heart & Pregnancy Quests
Three quest types run on their own clocks:
- Festival quests arrive automatically: collect Breath of Spring from Spring 14, visit the Summit on Summer 28, collect Queen Berries from Fall 7. Details per festival in the festival calendar.
- Heart quests unlock candidate story events at 2, 4, 6 and 8 hearts (letters or Request Board posts, always completed in order per character). Non-romanceable townsfolk show "gem" friendship instead — their heart quests aren't implemented yet, per the wiki.
- "A Craving" — a unique 10-heart quest that only appears while your spouse is pregnant; each craving is character-specific (Juniper wants Pizza, Celine a Spring Salad…). The whole marriage path is in the romance guide.
Marriage Is Story-Gated — Here's the Actual Gate
The engagement ring needs a material from mine floor 90+, which means the Water, Earth, Fire and Ruins seals all stand between you and a wedding. That's the whole gate — no hidden rank check. If marriage is your goal, push the mines chain above and treat the town repairs as a parallel track; the romance guide covers the ring, wedding and kids from there.
FAQ
What order do story quests go in?
Three parallel chains: intro quests (Spring 1-6), the mines chain (State of the Mines through Breaking the Final Seal, gated by floors 20/40/60/80/90/100), and Adeline's 17 town repairs (Repair the Bridge through Repair the Bell Tower, gated by Town Rank 55-90). Quests never expire, so nothing can be missed permanently.
How do you raise Town Rank fast?
Renown comes from quests, museum donations and shipping items. The quickest wins: clear the Request Board daily (20 Renown each), do all three weekly boards (Crown Requests 75, cooking challenges and slaying missions 100 each), and donate everything spare to the museum.
Why are late-game quests locked?
The last five town repairs check Town Rank: Stone Refinery at 55, Saturday Market upgrade at 65, Carpenter at 70, Market expansion at 80 and the Bell Tower at 90. Rank 90 takes roughly 14,600 cumulative Renown, which is why the end-game feels slower — grinding Renown in parallel with the mines chain smooths it out.
Why is marriage locked behind the main story?
The Engagement Ring recipe needs a material found from mine floor 90 onward, so all four seals must be broken first. There's no rank requirement on top — once you can reach floor 90, the wedding path is open.
How do you repair the Bell Tower?
Zorel's letter arrives after "Meet the New Vendors" once you hit Town Rank 90. The repair costs 20 Refined Stone, 30 Hardwood, plus one Dragon-Forged Fang and Core from the Dragon Forge on floor 90+ — making it the game's true final town project.
