Fields of Mistria Cooking & Recipe Guide

Around 170 recipes, seven unlock channels. Where each one comes from, which kitchen you need, and the short list of dishes worth cooking for profit.

🍳 Quick Answer

You cook at a kitchen — buy one for the farmhouse from the Carpenter, or use the Inn's kitchen for free (rear-left of the ground floor, behind the bar). Recipes come from seven channels: starter knowledge, shops, villager requests, shipping crops, mine treasure chests (Taste Maker perk), museum donations and festival stalls.

Ryis mails you when your Cooking level qualifies you for the next kitchen tier. The Champion's Kitchen (the cosmetic endgame one) is the only kitchen you craft yourself — it's the final Taliferro cooking-challenge reward (challenge list).

The Seven Recipe Channels

Roughly 170 recipes exist, and the wiki documents a source for each. Here's the full map — find your missing recipe by channel:

1. Known from the start

Wild Berry Jam, Bread, Trail Mix, Dried Squid, Jam Sandwich, Tuna Sashimi and Caramel Candy. Trail Mix (2 Water Chestnuts + 1 Wild Berries, both foraged in The Narrows) is the classic day-one stamina snack — Josephine's request later asks for three of them.

2. Bought from shops

  • The Inn (150-800t): Noodles, Potato Soup, Rice Ball, Red Snapper Sushi, Pan-fried Bream, Crayfish Etouffee, Mushroom Rice, Apple Pie, Cherry Tart, Sweet Potato Pie, Deluxe Curry, Cauliflower Curry, Lemon Pie, Rosemary Garlic Noodles, Sweet Sesame Balls, Grilled Cheese, Crab Cakes, Veggie Sub Sandwich, Spring Galette, Mont Blanc.
  • The Inn, after "Upgrade the Inn": Gazpacho, Herb Butter Pasta, Fish Tacos, Chili Coconut Curry, Mushroom Steak Dinner, Coconut Cream Pie, Seafood Boil, Seafood Snow Pea Noodles, Beet Soup.
  • Terithia's Tackle Shop: Mackerel Sashimi and Salmon Sashimi (150t each) — Canned Sardines, Pan-fried Salmon, Pan-fried Snapper and Fish Skewers also stock here besides dropping from Wooden Treasure Boxes.
  • Darcy's Saturday Market stall: the café menu — Lemonade, Grape Juice, Green Tea, Jasmine Tea, Latte, Roasted Rice Tea, Pomegranate Juice (150t each), Iced Coffee, Mocha, Tea with Lemon (300t), Hot Chocolate, Chocolate Cake, Spicy Cheddar Biscuit (400t), Cherry Cobbler (150t), Pumpkin Pie (600t), Ice Cream Sundae (800t).

3. Villager requests (Request Board)

Around 35 recipes are request rewards. The board rotates randomly and most requests need the right season — that's why a recipe can dodge you for years. The ones players hunt most:

RecipeRequestCondition
Spring SaladCeline — "Request for Fennel"Spring, and you must have obtained a Fennel before it appears
Vegetable Soup"Jo's Cooking Class" (Spring 13, Year 1)Meet Josephine at the Inn
Strawberry ShortcakeEiland — strawberry requestSpring + Cooking Lv 20 (his other strawberry request gives Strawberries and Cream)
Wild Berry PieReina — berries requestSpring + Cooking Lv 12
Sea Bream RiceTerithia — "Request for an Earthshroom"Reach The Deep Earth (floors 41+)
Grilled Eel Rice BowlMarch — freshwater eel requestWinter
Moon Fruit CakeJuniper — moon fruit requestFall
Winter StewVera — daikon requestWinter (market vendor requests need "Greet the Vendors" done)

The rest of the request pool follows the same shape — one seasonal ingredient in, one recipe out: Blueberry Jam, Blackberry Jam, Marmalade, Rosehip Jam, Wild Berry Scone, Berries and Cream, Hardboiled Egg, Caramelized Moon Fruit, Clam Chowder, Perch Risotto, Loaded Baked Potato, Breaded Catfish, Roasted Chestnuts, Wintergreen Ice Cream, Water Chestnut Fritters, Broccoli Salad, Cod with Thyme, Garlic Bread, Cranberry Orange Scone, Horseradish Salmon, Smoked Trout Soup, Seaweed Salad, Sesame Broccoli, Pineshroom Toast and Tea with Lemon.

4. Ship a crop, get its recipe mailed

Selling certain crops or forage through the Shipping Bin triggers a recipe letter. About 35 work this way — the pattern is "ship the headline ingredient": ship a Beet for Beet Salad, a Cabbage for Cabbage Slaw, a Potato for Baked Potato, an Onion for Onion Soup, a Tomato for Tomato Soup, a Pumpkin for Pumpkin Stew, a Carrot for Braised Carrots, Peas for Buttered Peas, Corn for Grilled Corn, a Cucumber for Cucumber Salad, a Bell Berry for the Bell Berry Bakewell Tart, a Crystal Berry for Crystal Berry Pie, a Glowberry for Glowberry Cookies, a Lemon for Candied Lemon Peel, a Strawberry for Candied Strawberries, a Pear for Poached Pear, a Peach for Peaches and Cream, a Watermelon for Salted Watermelon, an Apple for Apple Juice, and so on. Growing schedules are in the crops guide.

5. Taste Maker: recipes from mine chests

Taste Maker is a Cooking Tier 1 skill perk (15 Essence) — buy it at Caldarus' shrine and treasure chests in the mines start dropping region-locked recipes. This is the only source for some of the game's most searched dishes:

Mine RegionTaste Maker Recipes
Upper Mines (1-19)Crunchy Chickpeas, Turnip and Cabbage Salad, Monster Cookie
Tide Caverns (21-39)Crispy Fried Earthshroom, Tide Salad, Chickpea Curry, Monster Mash, Lemon Cake, Cherry Smoothie
Deep Earth (41-59)Herb Salad, Turnip and Potato Gratin, Vegetable Pot Pie
Lava Caves (61-79)Incredibly Hot Pot, Summer Salad, Spicy Crab Sushi, Fried Rice, Chili Coconut Curry
Ancient Ruins (81-99)Pizza, Spicy Corn, Cucumber Sandwich, Spell Fruit Parfait

So "how do I unlock the Crispy Fried Earthshroom recipe" has a two-step answer: buy Taste Maker, then open chests in the Tide Caverns until it drops. Same logic for the Incredibly Hot Pot, one region deeper.

6. Museum donations & treasure boxes

Donating a Sweetroot, Jade Dulse or Upper Mines Mushroom unlocks Baked Sweetroot, Deep Sea Soup and Miner's Mushroom Stew respectively (museum guide). The museum's reward boxes carry recipes too: Fish Stew (Copper), Summer Salad (Silver), and Golden-box headliners Lobster Roll, Sesame Tuna Bowl, Spicy Crab Sushi and Sushi Platter. Two oddballs: the Wishing Well trades a 500t wish for Berry Bowl, Spicy Cheddar Biscuit or Fried Rice, and the Chicken Statue's 10-offering line teaches Deviled Eggs, Quiche, Vegetable Quiche, Omelet and Pudding.

7. Festival stalls

Two festivals sell recipe scrolls you can't get elsewhere: the Harvest Festival (Fall 10) stocks Pumpkin Pie (600t), Apple Honey Curry (800t) and Harvest Plate (800t), and the Animal Festival (Winter 10) stocks Golden Cookies and Golden Cheesecake (800t each) — the two highest-selling dishes in the game. Dates and stall lists are in the festival calendar.

The Money Dishes

Straight from the wiki's sell values — cook these, ignore the rest when you're farming Tesserae:

The Golden pair deserve the hype: their ingredients are Golden animal products, which come from 8-10-heart animals (chance at 8 hearts, guaranteed at 10 — mechanics in the animals guide). One Golden Cheesecake outsells most raw-crop shipments several times over, which is why "process before you ship" is the standing money advice — pair it with the crop margins in the farming guide.

Two humble early workhorses: milling flour into Bread (190t) or Noodles (190t) beats selling most spring crops raw, costs 10 minutes of cook time, and levels Cooking while you sleep on profits.

Leveling Cooking

Cooking is one of the 9 skills (Lv 1-60). Higher levels unlock higher-star recipes, better kitchens and the perk tiers — grab Taste Maker at Tier 1 (see above) and note Eiland and Reina's leveled requests (Cooking 12/20) as soft milestones. Dishes also restore stamina ("recoup"), so batch-cook cheap staples like Rice Balls before mine trips instead of buying Inn meals; the mines guide has the stamina math.

FAQ

How do you unlock the Crispy Fried Earthshroom recipe?

Buy the Taste Maker perk (Cooking Tier 1, 15 Essence at Caldarus' shrine), then open treasure chests in the Tide Caverns (mine floors 21-39) until the recipe drops. It needs an Earthshroom, Flour and Oil, and sells for 250t.

Where do you get the Spring Salad recipe?

From Celine's "Request for Fennel" on the Request Board. It only appears in spring, and only after you've obtained a Fennel at least once — which is why it can skip entire years. Fennel forages along The Narrows and the Eastern Road in spring.

How do you get Noodles?

Buy the recipe at the Inn for 150t — Noodles are cooked from 1 Flour and sell for 190t. They're also an ingredient in Rosemary Garlic Noodles, Herb Butter Pasta and Seafood Snow Pea Noodles, so keep a stack.

Can you cook fish in Fields of Mistria?

Yes — fish have their own recipe families: sashimi (Tuna Sashimi is known from the start), pan-fried dishes, Fish Skewers, Fish Stew, Fish Tacos and more. Terithia's Tackle Shop sells the starter fish recipes for 150t each, and several others drop from museum treasure boxes.

What are the best recipes to make money?

Golden Cheesecake (2,530t) and Golden Cookies (2,110t), both bought at the Animal Festival for 800t and cooked from Golden animal products. Below those: Harvest Plate (760t), Veggie Sub Sandwich (730t) and Beet Soup (710t). Early on, milling flour into Bread or Noodles (190t each) is the simplest processing profit.

What is Golden Milk used for?

It's a Golden-tier animal product (from a 10-heart cow, or a chance at 8+ hearts) rather than a cooked dish. Recipes that call for it include Golden Cheesecake, Golden Cookies and the Spell Fruit Parfait — and it's a Loved gift for several villagers.
